Auf Wiedersehen

Today I resigned from my job at Die Bank. If you are very surprised, I guarantee you are less surprised then my co-workers. I have kept this big transition as covert as possible to prevent office gossip and speculation and the strain of keeping everything under wraps was quite stressful.

The Germans are very sad. The Americans are sad too. I have tried to explain, it's not that I don't love them anymore, it's just that I found a sexy new firm to work for. One where I won't have to make coffee every morning. These photos were taken shortly after I broke the news. This is how the Germans dress for work everyday.

I will be taking a new position at another financial services firm in Manhattan, which, you may note, is not Germany. I have mixed feelings about this. But Germany is not Brooklyn. So the whole thing is very confusing. As I prepare to leave this job, train the Temp, take a little vacation and start my new position, posting may become quite lax here. Roll with it.
Wir bitten um ihr Verstaendnis fuer diese Massnahme.

I know. This is big news. But we'll get through this together. I was just kidding about the Germans. They only cry when football is involved. Unlike the Austrians; they cry once a year on the anniversary of the death of Empress Sissi.

I think this is an appropriate goodbye song for you. Not only for the lyrics but also because it is sung so orderly. And everyone know that 'Ordnung muß sein!'

So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehn, good night,
I hate to go and leave this pretty sight.
So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehn, adieu,
Adieu, adieu, to yieu and yieu and yieu.

PS Ohhhh ohhhhhh ohhhh I love the Romy Schneider Sissi!

Well we discussed this already, but mozel tov.
However, I must state that working for a non-German bank isn't that funny. I know this job pays well and probably you'll get to do more interesting things and will maybe have some time to write that book? But American bankers are only funny when drunk.

Re: American Bankers and their humorous potenial, you really must see the singing Bank of America clip. But yes, probably much less daily cultural gaffes and hilarity- possibly a tell-all book. But definately not if their spies have already found this blog.

Friends, what I predict for Cupcake and DerMann is that the less we see each other, the more we'll be all sentimental, and sappily into each other until we do meet up again and I remember once again that I find him incredibly annoying in anything other than small doses. That's pretty much the status quo now anyways.
