Oh yeah, I've also been busy organizing a Bake Sale in my neighborhood with the proceeds going to bennefit Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts. It will be next Sunday, September 18th at PS 9 in Prospect Heights Brooklyn. Rest assured, I will give you lots of information as the time nears. All of the money will go to The Red Cross and the Food Bank of Houston.
Wanna help out? I'd like to bake cupcakes for the sale. Duh. It's been a long time since I made a cake from scratch and I don't think I've ever made cupcakes and buttercream icing from scratch. I was wondering if Chockylit could send a simple recipie? I will probably be doing a lot of baking on Saturday, including trial and error baking ( uh oh! ugly mistake! must destroy all evidence!). Any one in the mob want to come over to help bake? If you don't want to bake, or purchase baked goods, you can help buy making a cash donation or donating supplies like markers, labels, saran wrap, foil, zip loc bags, etc... to the bake sale. The rest of you, get yourselves ready for some major sugar consumption for a good cause.

my friend Amanda just did a post on cupcakes and it totally made me think of you... did you know they called them "fairy cakes" in England... :)

This is such a good thing to do, Cupcake. I wish I could be there to help do the baking. I hope you raise lots of $$.
I'd like to bake for it and I'd love to meet you, but, um, I don't bake well with others. I get all anal and bossylike. Did I mention that I wrote a paper in college on the chemistry and physics of yellow butter cake? A lame paper, but nevertheless . . .
So may I bake things at my home and bring them to the sale? Have cake carrier, will travel.
These are the easiest cupcakes ever. I swear. And very yummy! That's great of you to do.
