La Hipster and I are trying to set a movie date for the weekend. Both of us would like to see Miranda July's Me and You and Everyone We Know which is playing at the new IFC Center. How excited am I to check out the new theater? I don't care if it is a marketing gimmick, sign me up. Plus, I hear Jonathan Lethem is the guest currator for the July 7th Movie Night. We'll have to look into that.
Closer to home, Rize is playing at BAM (The Brooklyn Academy of Music). And at Cobble Hill Cinemas, Mad Hot Ballroom is still playing, which I've got to see at some point: New York City Public School kids + ballroom dancing + music by Frank Sinatra and Peggy Lee; basically the movie was made for me.
I'm a little sheepish to bring up Batman to LaHipster. Maybe I'll see that one by myself.

Mad Hot Ballroom is well worth seeing, I think you would enjoy it. I saw it at a fund raiser for NIFF back in April and got to dance with Rodney Lopez, one of the instructors, at the party after the screening. Talk about smooth!!! The filmmakers, some of the kids and three of the teachers were there, it was pretty cool. For me, this is one of the best films I've seen so far this year!!
I cant wait to see Me and You.. either!
