As you may have heard, or as I may have told you with breathless exuberance, I resigned from my current position and accepted a great new job. I am very excited. When I start my new job, I will be shutting down this blog, so maybe now that there is an end in sight I have rediscovered my joie de blog. Adding to my sheer joy is the fact that I have taken two weeks off between gigs. I wanted to take a nice little vacation, and I got a great deal to go to New Orleans. So, yeah, Cupcake is hitting the Big Easy. If you have any suggestions about how I should spend my time, please let me know. I’ll be there for four days.

To sum up:

My Life = About to get better
This Blog = Bites the dust on April 28, 2008
Until Then = Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler.

First of all that is great.

Second of all that is terrible (about the blog).

Third, eat and see gators, po' boys, oysters, drink coffee at cafe du monde, eat beignets, um, yeah.

wear beads?

No more blog???? Say it ain't so!

Congrats on the new job though. As for New Orleans, I suggest Cafe du Monde in the French Quarter for beignets and cafe au lait. I can't remember the name of the hotel I stayed in, but you're probably all set for accommodations. Oh, and get your palm read in the Square (I can't remember if that's really the name), but the main plaza area where the cathedral is.

Shutting down the blog? Was it something I said? :)
Yes, I've been checking in weekly since mom sent the link a few years ago. Last month I almost took you up on your offer to join you for the Paul Simon American Songbook.. but realized the commute would suck.
Congrats on the new job... I didn't like that old one anyway. I hope you're still planning to share your occasional stories in some manner; it's good stuff.

When I was in NO you could ride the ferry for free across the river to the town of Algiers. It was a big ol' paddlewheel thing. Also there was a bayou tour by boat that was fun. Both only if you like boats. 'Course, that was 40 years ago. If Preservation Hall is still there go and listen to the old-time jazz, for sure.

Will miss the blog.
