Mountain Momma

As you can see, Spring Break fever has hit the blogosphere. JoshedPotatoes and Team Kitten just got back from Romania. Sheena is preparing for Zuerich. And all over town, people are abandoning their blogs to feel the warmth of sunshine and interact with actual human beings.

I have never been good at Spring Break. My senior year of college, I took a solo trip to Chicago for that week. Do you know how cold it is in Chicago in March? And windy. I was almost blown into Lake Michigan. Good times! The highlights of that trip included visiting one of my roommates from Vienna on the Northwestern University campus, shopping for my Ivy Day outfit at Marshall Fields, seeing a good production of Dinner With Friends, witnessing an assault on a street corner in Lincoln Park, and then finally getting thrown out of Chicago Public Radio by Starlee Kine after I crashed the This American Life office to check on the status of my internship application.

This year, I am traveling to Denver, CO for a long weekend to visit Drew Belstock, whose claim to fame is that he does not read this blog. If I'm lucky, I'll follow it up with a trip to Minneapolis at the end of April. Wooo! Girls Gone Wild Twin Cities style! I'll show you my twins! Hopefully, by the end of April temperatures will have climbed above the freezing mark there. I'm going to think seriously about bringing open-toed shoes. Par-tay!

I booked the ticket to Denver on Travelocity because I earn cash back for my Upromise account (yes, I am saving for college for my unborn children. What's it to you?). Yesterday I received an email from Travelocity titled "Important Information About Your Upcoming Trip to Denver". Oh great, I thought. Now what? But it turns out, Travelocity just wanted to recomend some songs about Denver and books about Denver to me. Um, thanks Travelocity. I found this to be kind of an unusal service. Oh, and they also wanted to bombard me with several advertisements as well.

So, while I get ready by reading Running with the Buffaloes about a high-altitude cross-country team and listening to anything by John Denver, maybe Kari could send me the names of some good bars like she offered?

You should definitely go to Mnpls, it's one of my favorite cities.

Don't come during the last week in April. I'll be out of town 4.27-4.30.

I'll be in Denver March 31-April 3rd because I am too stupid to read a weather report and realize there will probably be two feet of snow on the ground then.

As far as Mnpls goes, you've really screwed the pooch here, Lew. I can think about the weekend before, April 22-23 or so but it will depend on PatriotDave's work schedulde. The first weekend in May doesn't work for me. I do want to see you both, so let's work something out.

I've been meaning to suggest that we scrap Mpls in favour of Chicago the last weekend in April. That's where Joe will be, and I've got good reason to be there that weekend myself. What do ya think? I bet we can find a place for you to stay in the windy city for free.

Planning a visit to see Alex P. Keaton, are we? Well, I'm down. I love Chicago. But I'd need to find a place to stay.
