On the Street Where You Live

Some of you may have noticed that I have been physically and emotionally distant from the blog lately. Well, there has been a major development in my life. I have fallen in love ... with a little two room studio in Prospect Heights. After looking for so long, and so many bad real estate dates, I was beginning to think that it just wouldn't happen for me. But when I saw it, I just knew. I have put in a rental application and mailed in my deposit today. Cross your fingers please, or for our German readers, please press your thumbs for me.

The deal is, I would have to move in July 15th, which is soon. That gives me just about a month to put in an application, find a subletter, come up with the dough (ie rob a bank), pack and hire movers. The search for the new subletter to take over my room, from here on known as "Brooklyn Idol", began yesterday. Already a lot of interest including: a doctor in the Psych department at NYU, an Editorial Assistant who walks dogs, an illustrator who does a good Sean Connery impersonation, a law student who wants to be an entertainment attorney and a Ukranian-born male model who attached a photo to his email. Perhaps I should set up a 1-900 hotline so you can vote for your favorite.

The big problem selling this place is that I absolutely cannot lie 50% of the time; the other 50% of the time I have no problem at all. For example, last night when a girl asked me if my roommates were clean I said, "Uuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmm," while my brain tried to decide which 50% of the time we were in. The problem is, once you preface your answer with a two minute long "um" no one is going to believe anything you say anyway. So, changing tactics she said, "Well, do they like, leave Chinese food out on the counter for days?"

"Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmm, not often?"

Special note for friends of Cupcake: You will probably want to start screening your calls now since soon I will start calling everyone I know to see who's up for a fun round of painting/assembling furniture/hanging curtain rods/setting up cable/installing light fixtures/ etc.., etc...

Thanks, Leah. T-Dids: the last time you helped me move, I didn't see you again for a year. Granted, you did move me twice in two weeks, but that was totally not my fault.
