An Open Letter to the Races

Dear White people,

If I'm walking down the street, and you're walking down the street, and you see a black person going down the street doing something you think is "crazy", don't give me that look like 'Black people sure are crazy. And Dangerous.' and expect me to nod my head sympathetically. Not gonna happen.

Dear Black people,

If I'm walking down the street, and you're walking down the street, and you see a white person going down the street doing something you think is "crazy", don't give me that scowl like 'White folk sure are crazy. And privledged motherfuckers.' and expect me to sheepishly raise my shoulders and appolgize for the race. Not gonna happen.

Dear Brown people,

If I'm walking down the street, and you're walking down the street, and you see a black person doing something you think is "crazy", do not give me a pleading look like, 'See? See? Can you believe this guy? I am not like that. I'm one of you." and expect me to bend over and help you start looking around for stones to cast.

Dear Native English Speakers,

If I'm in a restaurant or a street corner or a subway car, and you're having a difficult interaction with someone who isn't bringing out your bread fast enough or is asking you for directions or just generally isn't speaking English up to your standards, and you start talking loudly and agressively and looking around for someone to help you humiliate the hapless guy, don't expect me to join your Minute Man Militia; I've also lived in countries where I didn't speak the language.

Dear New Yorkers,

This is getting really fucking old. If they want to play that way out in the sticks, that's one thing, but aren't we supposed to be better than that?

I hope mcmcmc isn't kidding here about wisconsin. Sure it's racially harmonious because there are 3 black people but it's still a surprisingly tolerant state.
