Hot Potato

I walked into the Dry Cleaner's across the street from me this morning to drop off some clothes, and I saw something a little unusual. They had a space heater turned on, and sitting on top of the space heater were three dirty yellow potatoes. Now, I'm not sure whether they were trying to cook the potatoes or dry the potatoes, and I'm not making any kind of cultural judgments here, but roasting earthen potatoes on a space heater is maybe the kind of thing you want to keep in the backroom.

fyi:

if you believe it, the potato is supposed to temper the "dry heat" released from the space heater.

but you never know, maybe they're ust giving away a baked potato with every third cleaning.

this is reminding me of the story my sister told me last week: she went to the dry cleaners to pick up her clothes. one of her shirts had a yellow stain in and around the front pocket. She said to the man: "What is this stain?" and he said "I don't know." Then she said, "...but it was not there before." This man did not speak very good english and then he said "Potato in pocket. It is a pocket potato."
That is all.

Wha??? It looks like I have stumbled upon some kind of potato/dry cleaning zeitgeist. Anyone else have a potato at the Dry Cleaner's story to share?
