Million Dollar Baby

Here's my million dollar idea of the week (see Timmy, I get ideas too): A Napatorium. Cool, quiet rooms where you can go on your lunch hour in Midtown or Downtown and take a nap. Or maybe you'll want to take a 4pm nap so you can push through to 10pm. We could have nap suites, or for the proletariat like me, bunk beds in a big hall. I'd pay five bucks to get a one hour nap in during the day. And instead of awful alarm clocks, somone would gently wake you when you request. We could rent ear-phones to plug into relaxing music. And teddy bears. No hanky-panky, just a little shut eye.

No! I can't believe someone beat me to it! Okay, I just spent some time on their website and here are my issues: one nap costs $14. It gets cheaper if you buy multiple packages, but still. Also, the nap is 25 minutes. I'm looking for a full 60. I wonder if I can fiddle with the timer. Of note: franchising opportunities. Hmm.

want another business concept? how about a 'retail office'? instead of going to starbucks and dealing with small tables and noisy neighbors, a space where you can get a cup of joe, something to eat, and a decent table, chair, and work environment!? you'd attract all of those freelance/office-less workers and students (such as yours truly) that are miserably under-served.

p.s. - this concept has taken off in LA. mark timmy's words...not just pie-in-the sky...

I would want a full hour, too, and 14 bucks seems a little steep to me.

Now, if I were really any kind of writer, I'd pitch a story to a magazine about me going to try out Metro Naps and get them to pay for it. I could do a cute little write-up, no? Now, who would be interested in a story for midday naps for business people?
